A plane has plummeted out of the sky and hit a bus in the middle of a city. Plumes of smoke were seen across Sao Paulo after the plane crashed in the city earlier today.

The plane was a light aircraft and crashed in the western part of the city in an area called Marquês de São Vicente. It's understood that the aircraft landed on a bus when it crashed, with the vehicle bursting into flames.

According to RT Brazil, two bodies were found inside the plane, "while a motorcyclist and the bus driver were injured, the Fire Department detailed".

According to local news outlets, it happened at 7.20am, and hit Avenida Marquês de São Vicente, in the Barra Funda neighborhood. The craft was a King Air F90, which only has a seating capacity for eight people.

The fire department told local media that the 732 bus, which was from the Santa Brigida bus company, had no passengers on board at the time of the crash. They added that there were no victims on the ground.

Horrific images from the scene show the plane smashed into several pieces in a ball of flames on the road as fire crews battled to dampen the flames.

No comments have been made by Brazilian officials, however experts rom JetAV said of the plane used: "The King Air F90 can accomodate up to eight passengers, although it is more commonly configured for six passengers, with four seats arranged in a club, one seat across from the door, and a belted lavatory seat.

"The King Air F90 is powered by a pair of Pratt & Whitney PT6A-135 turboprop engines flat-rated to 750shp each, driving a pair of four-blade, full-feathering constant speed propellers. Inspection interval on the engines is 3,600 hours."
